ABOUT ME:

Horses have been an integral part of my life's journey, guiding me through both the highest peaks and the deepest valleys. Growing up on a small hobby farm, I was fortunate to be immersed in the world of horses with guidance from an "old cowboy" approach to training. As an adult, amidst the trials of infertility, horses became not only a passion but a therapeutic outlet for my mental health and physical wellbeing.

My fascination with these majestic creatures led me down the path of dressage, where I discovered its foundation in military training and its focus on the longevity and well-being of the horse. This curiosity extended to eventing, where I delved into rehabilitating and strengthening my horse Molly through classical dressage techniques, adding a sprinkle of jumps along the way.

In my quest for knowledge, I have eagerly sought guidance from experts in various fields: saddle fitters, chiropractors, bodyworkers, EAL and EAC facilitators, and trainers. I attended (and continue to attend) countless clinics and demonstrations, driven by an insatiable thirst for understanding.

As Molly regained correct muscling, I was introduced to liberty training, a concept that resonated deeply with both of us. This sparked a journey into researching and applying liberty training techniques, strengthening our bond and deepening my understanding of equine behavior.

A particularly challenging situation led me to discover the transformative power of equine-assisted learning. This experience illuminated the intricate dynamics between horse and human, prompting me to explore the realms of horse learning behavior and interspecies communication.

My life took an unexpected turn when I faced and survived cancer, an experience that deepened my gratitude for the unwavering support I received from both people and horses. Their presence during this journey reinforced my commitment to pairing humans and horses for mutual healing and growth.

Driven by a desire to share my knowledge and continue learning, I became a Certified Equine Massage Therapist (CEMT), an Emotional Freedom Technique Practitioner, and a Reiki Practitioner. I was also accepted into the Dual Accreditation program with HorseWork and PATH International, where I am obtaining credentials in Equine Assisted Learning Facilitation with a specialty in Personal Development. With over 20 years of hands-on experience with horses and a commitment to lifelong learning, I am dedicated to serving as a trusted resource for both humans and horses.

Join me as we navigate the vast and ever-evolving world of horsemanship, embracing challenges, and celebrating the profound connection between horse and human.

Warmly,
Courtney Moss

What Do You Do?

  • Equine Massage

Equine massage therapy is a specialized technique that alleviates muscle tension and pain in horses. Using techniques from Stride Right Body Specialty, bodywork can be used to help a multitude of things. This is not a luxury, it is truly a necessity for you and your horse. These sessions will also include a mindfulness of Reiki. Typically Courtney will come to you and your horse at your barn for a session.

  • Equine Assisted Learning Facilitation

Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) is an experiential learning approach where interactions with horses are used to develop personal and professional skills. Courtney can host these sessions one on one at her barn Oberlin. It is encouraged to gather a group and book an EAL clinic at your facility. This is great for Families, 4-H groups, FFA groups, Church Groups or an outing with friends.

  • Immersive Reiki Sessions

Join Courtney at her barn in Oberlin for your Reiki sesion surrounded by her horses. This practice involves channeling positive energy to promote healing and balance in both horses and humans. Reiki sessions can help to alleviate stress, reduce anxiety, and support physical healing.

  • Emotional Freedom Technique

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as "tapping," is a therapeutic approach that integrates cognitive therapy with acupressure by having individuals tap on specific points on the body while focusing on negative emotions or physical pain. Why "Matrix" In The Business Name?

Choosing "Matrix" for our business name wasn't just a random decision; it encapsulates the essence and philosophy of our relationship-focused services. The term "matrix" signifies a complex network or system composed of interconnected elements, perfectly mirroring the multifaceted nature of the bond between humans and horses. Here’s why “Matrix” is the ideal representation of our business:

  1. Interconnected Elements: Much like a mathematical or biological matrix, the relationship between a horse and a human involves multiple elements working together. Our services, including equine massage therapy, equine assisted learning, reiki, biomechanics, and brain learning, each play a critical role in enhancing this relationship. No single aspect stands alone; it's the synergy of these elements that fosters a strong, harmonious partnership.

  2. Complex Dynamics: The interactions between horses and humans are intricate and multifaceted. Success in this relationship doesn't stem from a singular approach but from understanding and integrating various techniques and disciplines. Just as a matrix comprises diverse components to form a cohesive whole, our approach considers every angle to ensure a well-rounded, effective relationship-building process.

  3. Holistic Approach: In the equine world, there are numerous disciplines and horsemanship approaches. Whether it’s dressage, jumping, natural horsemanship, western showmanship, or therapy riding, each discipline has its unique principles and techniques. We recognize and incorporate these diverse methodologies into our practice, ensuring that we can cater to the specific needs and goals of each horse and human pair. Our matrix approach means we don't limit ourselves to one perspective; we embrace the richness of equine knowledge and apply it holistically.

  4. Comprehensive Care and Learning: Our services are designed to cover every aspect of equine care and learning. From physical well-being through massage therapy to mental and emotional growth via equine assisted learning and reiki, we address every facet of the horse-human relationship. The matrix concept emphasizes that well-rounded care and continuous learning are key to building and maintaining a strong partnership.

In essence, "Matrix" represents the interconnected, dynamic, and holistic nature of our approach. It symbolizes our commitment to considering every element that contributes to the thriving partnership between humans and horses. By choosing "Matrix" as our business name, we highlight the importance of a comprehensive, multi-faceted approach to equine relationships, ensuring that every interaction and service we provide contributes to a harmonious and fulfilling bond.
